Although central Hokkaido is one of those rare places where the avalanche risk mid winter is extremely low, our guides ensure caution taken at all times. This is an area where you can ski the world's best powder in relative security, but the same does not apply to other areas in Japan or indeed to other areas in Hokkaido that are more prone to temperature variations, higher winds and fluctuations in humidity levels. Slope aspect, angle and altitude also play a part in this equation.
